Szakcsi Jr. Trio concert
The performance of the Szakcsi band is an elegant and sophisticated masterpiece. Their music is perfectly confident and fully integrated and characterized by musical virtuosity on stage. No doubt that they are very special musicians and their head, Szakcsi Jr. is one of the most prominent hungarian jazz pianist. Krisztian Pecek Lakatos is his equal partner playing the bass accompany with Elemer Balazs's accurate and improvisational drumming. Szakcsi Junior also chosed the piano as his instrument in the footsteps of his famous father. He had classical music education from the age of six to twelve. He was influenced by jazz music. Since than he has played with well known Hungarian and foreign jazz musicians such as Dezso "Ablakos" Lakatos, Geza Pecek Lakatos, Rudolf Tomsics, Tony Lakatos, Rick Margitza, Ed Thigpen, John Patitucci, Ravi Coltrene, Jack DeJohnette. His first group was the New Rakfogo band in 1989, from 1994 he bacame the member of the Babos Band (Gyula Babos, Gergo Borlai, Gyorgy Szappanos). Accompanied with Klari Katona they performed in numerous festivals in Hungary and abroad. These works led to the formation of his own band, a trio and expanded as a quintet. In 1998 he was invited to play on Aladar Pege's album, in 2000 the Szakcsi Jr. Quartet released its own album. He formed his latest trio in 2001 the Bee-Bop Trio, the band plays its own compositions reaching back to the roots of jazz and Gypsy music. They have an authentic, experimental and eclectic style. The rhythm and the beat of the music mirror the time of a Gypsy, Indian and Flamenco on its passionate and dramatic way accompanied with cathartic energy.
