Kölcsey Convention Center, with its 13000m2 area, is second to none among conference centers in Eastern Hungary. The designer of the center visualized such an "omniscient" building that can be the perfect ambience for an international conference as well as for a cultural event of any kind.

The designer's dream became reality in February 2006, when the construction of the new Kölcsey Convention Center was finally completed. The new center is located exactly at the site where once stood the house of the author of the Hungarian national anthem, Ferenc Kölcsey. As the inner core of the building bears the shape of a cylinder, upon entering the center, one feels virtually entwined by the walls.

While the enermous sized windows let the light freely flow in from outside, the ample wood paneling, made of birch, maple and okumé, radiates a feeling of cleanliness, warmth, and friendliness.

Function and Spectacle: Coordinated Entities

The Grand Hall, the individual section halls, the elegant Ballroom, even the Exhibition Hall, together with the light Entrance Hall and the corridors offer a perfect venue for any kind of lecture, performance, ball, reception, exhibition or fair. The Grand Hall has featured such renowned artists in concert as András Schiff, Félix Lajkó, or Jan Garbarek. The Exhibition Hall has already been home for several grand-scale exhibitions, among them the centenary traveling exhibition of Museum of Fine Arts, called Hidden Beauties.
