Debrecen Flower Festival

One of Hungary's best known and Debrecen's most significant festival.In 2010, the city of Debrecen will host its Flower Festival for the 41st time. The festival itself, which has recently envolved into a week-long fiesta, routinely offers a wide variety of events, curiosities, and novelties year after year.The floats clad in flowers and the art ensembles from home and abroad parade along the main street of the city called Piac utca to make it to Nagyerdei Satdion, where the spectators may take an even closer look at the individual floral compositions.

Celebration of Flowers in Debrecen
The Debrecen Flower Carnival offers a sea of flowers, festival atmosphere, star performers.
Recent years it is not only a one day programme but a week long fiesta in music, dance and flowers. The event offers a great experience  as one of the most famous events in Hungary.  This year will not be different the event will be even more colourful. During the last 100 years the visitors have seen almost 600 flower cars and tens of thousands of marchers on St. Istvan`s day.

16. August (Monday)

"The ancient city takes a step"  (world premiere)
A dancepoem from the history of Debrecen. A joint performance of the Debrecen Folkdance Ensemble
and the Hajdu Dance Ensemble. The production will be supported by the actors of the National Theatre.
This show will be the opening production of the Carnival Week in Kossuth square. They going to show
memorable eras of the history of Debrecen with the use of music, dance and theatrical elements. The
almost 200 performers will show a dynamic folk and contemporary dance production based on the past
with modern sound and visual techniques.

Inaugural will be presented by Lajos Kosa, mayor of Debrecen and Gusztav Bolcskei, bishop of the Reformed
Church Tiszantul District.

The "csikidam" feeling still alive. The famous band of the 80`s enriched
our parties with such hits as: Ballag a katona, Bambazo, Reg varok valakire...

One of the most successful Hungarian band of the eighties was founded in 1982, when Robert
Szikora left the Hungaria band on its peak of success.
They held a 20 year anniversary concert in 2003, and released their "Csikidam" album in 2004
which one was followed by the cd version of their "Amulet" album.
The "Retro" album was released in 2006. The band`s latest album was "Letezem".
Robert Szikora received the Viva Comet Award for the Hungarian Pop Music in 2007.

Ali Campbell (UB 40) concert

The UB40 was founded in Birmingham in 1978. They sold 70 million copies of their albums
in the last 30 years. Their hits Red,red wine, I got you babe and Can`t help fallin in love
brought them huge success. After 30 years their frontman Ali Campbell left the band and
started solo career.

Bobby McFerrin concert

The well-known musician won 10 Grammy Awards and has been in Hungary couple of times. His four-octave voice helped him to sold over 20 million copies of his albums. His famous song "Don`t worry be happy" led the American Billboard chart as the first a capella (vocal only) song. He worked together with Chick Corea, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Herbie Hancock. He wrote an a capella opera "Bobble". After an eight years break he releases a new album in 2010. He will also presents his VOCAbuLarieS album in Debrecen.

girls dressed in flowers waiting for you to help preparing and sending your message. On August
20 they will decorate the Stadium Great Forest with them.

2. Interticket ticket offices: You can find the closest office where you can purchase a
ticket in person on www.interticket.hu.
3. online purchase via www.interticket.hu . Please keep the document they sending
as a proof of purchase.
Tickets purchased in this way can be received until 19 August in Kolcsey Centre`s
ticket office in opening hours 11:00-19:30. On August 20 only the stand ticket can
be received 7:00-10:00.
Online purchased Stadium stand tickets can be received at the information desk of the
main entrance of the stadium.

Discount tickets only available at the North and South gates of the stadium.

Please be sure that you take  your student or pensioner card because the staff going to check
them before entering the venues. Sodexo, Accor, Ticket-Culture, Cheque dejenuer and other
passes can be used in Apollo Cinema`s and Kolcsey Centre`s ticket offices. You can only enter
to the venues with a valid ticket.

Ticket purchasing via SMS

Send an SMS with the code of the performance, code of the
place of the performance and the number of tickets you want
to buy to 06 20/810 0410 or 06 30/810 0410 phone numbers.
Each show has its unique code which is available on posters,
flyers etc. On www.jegy.hu site you will find the current code
list.

1. The SMS has to include the code of the place of performance,
code of the show and number of tickets. Please do not forget to
put an * between each code.
The system going to offer the best available seat. If  you want to
purchase two or more tickets the system will try to give seats
next to each other, if it is not possible the system automatically
send you a response. It means you have to try the procedure again.

2. Approve the purchase
The system will send an SMS with the details and the payment
methods. Please confirm the purchase within 3 minutes sending
"OK" to 06 20/8100 000 or 06 30/8100 000 phone numbers.

3. To receive the tickets
You will get an SMS as a purchase confirmation with the takeover
code and the delivery location. Please keep the SMS because you
need to show the code in it to have your ticket(s).
The tickets can be received immediatelly before the performance
at the ticket office or the designated office.
